At Project HOPE Food Bank, located in Hot Springs, Arkansas, we are dedicated to serving Central Arkansas by providing access to nutritious foods for seniors, children, and families in need. Established in 2009, Project HOPE Food Bank serves agencies in seven Arkansas Counties: Garland, Hot Spring, Montgomery, Pike, Pulaski, Saline, and Union. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we rely heavily on volunteers and strategic partnerships to fulfill our mission and support our programs.
Project HOPE Food Bank's programs are aimed at promoting health and well-being by increasing access to nutritious foods for those facing food insecurity in Central Arkansas, specifically in Garland County and its surrounding areas. Through collaboration with various nonprofit organizations, including food pantries, shelters, schools, and community programs, we strive to address the root causes of hunger and support vulnerable populations across our region.
OUR PROGRAMS
Food Subsidy Program
Our Food Subsidy Program leverages partnerships with local retailers and national distributors to purchase nutritious foods at wholesale prices. By subsidizing the cost of these foods, we empower our partner agencies in Garland County and Central Arkansas to stretch their resources further and serve more individuals and families in need. Through this program, our goal is to strengthen the capacity of our nonprofit partners and enhance food accessibility for vulnerable populations.
Emergency Food Boxes
Our Emergency Food Box Program provides immediate relief to families facing crisis situations in Central Arkansas. These boxes contain essential food items and are distributed through various community organizations, including schools, clinics, and emergency rooms in Garland County and neighboring areas. By collaborating with a network of agencies, we ensure timely assistance reaches those in need while also supporting caseworkers and professionals in their efforts to address broader client needs.
School Backpack Program
Designed to combat childhood hunger, our School Backpack Program provides weekend food assistance to children who rely on school meal programs during the week in Central Arkansas. Partnering with schools across five Arkansas counties, including Garland, Hot Spring, and Saline, we help bridge the nutritional gap for vulnerable children, promoting their emotional, physical, and academic well-being.
Planned Programming Expansions
In addition to our existing programs, we are actively exploring opportunities to expand our impact and better serve Central Arkansas communities. Plans include the introduction of a mobile senior-specific pantry to reach seniors living in food deserts within Garland, Hot Spring, Montgomery, Pike, Pulaski, Saline, and Union Counties. Additionally, collaborations with healthcare institutions and community organizations will address the underlying causes of food insecurity in our region. By engaging with residents and stakeholders, we strive to develop innovative solutions that promote health, dignity, and resilience for all members of our community.
